Turkish e-Visa Don't get scammed!!

The Turkish Electronic Visa (or e-Visa) replaces the famous ‘sticker visa’ starting 2013. And you better get used to it, since the latter will be depreciated. Is this a bad thing? No, not at all. The Turkish online visa procedure is quick, smooth and actually saves you time since you no longer have to stand in line to get your ‘sticker visa’.

The only down side is that since the Turkish Electronic Visa was introduced there has been a mushroom effect of other so called Agents offering the Turkish e-Visa on-line service but charging as much as 600%  higher rate for the e-Visa not to mention a very poor customer services!

The purpose of this blog is to help others from being ripped off by these so called agent, but they are more like scam artist fooling people into paying as much as 600% more for this service, if you do need a Turkish e-Visa please go to the Official Republic of Turkey e-Visa website  https://www.evisa.gov.tr/en/ . Notice that the address for this website has the official dot gov dot tr in the address bar.

My personal experience with Turkey e-Visa online.

When I needed to fly out to Turkey recently I new that the visa system has now been made available online, after Googling for Turkish visa online I select the first link on results page as the Site Meta Description looked and sounded very official.

The steps were straight forward and it took around 5 minutes to apply online, but unfortunately I didn't receive me my e-Visa until the day after my actual flight date! I tried to call the number on their website but it kept going on to the answer machine so I contacted them via email to complain and request a refund, they responded shortly after and apologized, they said  they will make the refund that day but it could take up to 72 hours!

After 14 days and a dozen emails I was still being told to be patient and that it would take another 72 hours for the transaction to appear in my bank account but the situation is still ongoing and I don't expect to get my refund any time soon! Here is a transcript of emails sent and received from [email protected]sgovtr.org and [email protected] it would be logical to presume that both sites belong to the same agent as there support team replied to my ticket from [email protected] and [email protected]

Here's a list of other e-Visa provider websites to avoided!!!
